Ducati Pro Evo II; A Review
As an avid scooter fanatic, I'm always eager to test out the latest models that promise excitement, innovation and top-notch build quality. The new Ducati Pro evo II electric scooter immediately grabbed my attention when it was announced, and after taking it for a thorough test drive, it's safe to say this Italian stallion does not disappoint.
At first glance, the Pro evo II makes a striking visual statement with its sleek, angular body panels and prominent Ducati badging. The design cues take styling cues from Ducati's iconic sport bikes, giving this electric scooter a very aggressive, performance-driven aesthetic. The sculpted black and gray bodywork with red accents looks stealthy and fast even when parked.
In terms of performance, the 350W electric motor provides peppy acceleration up to the 25km/h top speed. Torque off the line felt impressively punchy, which is great for quick stops and starts around town. The motor is relatively quiet yet delivers that satisfying electric powertrain hum when accelerating. Compared to some cheaper e-scooters I've tried, the power delivery felt incredibly smooth and refined.
The 374Wh lithium-ion battery is rated for 40km of range, but when testing it around town, I was able to squeeze out a little over 42km before needing a recharge. This is plenty for most urban commuters, though hardcore scooter road warriors may desire even longer range. Recharging from empty takes about 7 hours from a 220V outlet.
One of the most stand-out features for me is the lightweight yet sturdy construction. Weighing just 17kg, the Pro evo II is easy to carry up stairs, lift onto public transit or store in a small space. Yet the frame feels rigid and stable even when hitting bumps in the road at higher speeds. Build quality is fantastic across the board, from the thick 10-inch tires to the grippy foldable foot pegs.
Some of the other details I appreciate are the LCD display with integrated speedometer, bright LED headlight and taillight, and a max load capacity of 100kg. The display lets you monitor speed, range, riding mode and other stats with a quick glance. The lights ensure you'll see and be seen when riding at night or in low-light conditions. And the robust frame can accommodate heavier riders without any issues.
After many miles testing the ins and outs of the Ducati Pro evo II, I'm pleased to say it lives up to the Italian brand's reputation for high-performance two-wheelers. It zips through urban streets with plenty of pep, turns heads with its stylish design, and provides a comfortable, stable ride. For scooter enthusiasts like myself who want a nimble, feature-packed electric ride, the Pro evo II checks all the boxes. Some may gripe about the shorter range or higher price tag compared to competitors, but Ducati has built an incredible e-scooter that's perfect for the brand's core demographic. This electric stallion gets my seal of approval.
