As an electric scooter aficionado who keeps up to date on the latest models and innovations in the industry, I was thrilled when Inokim announced the new OXO as an upgrade over their popular OX model. On paper, the specs seemed impressive, but I knew I had to test ride both scooters myself to see how they truly stack up. After taking the OXO and OX on extensive side-by-side rides, here is my in-depth comparison of these two exciting Inokim offerings:

Power and Speed

The most obvious difference is the motor output, with the OXO boasting a robust 2,000W motor compared to the OX's 1,000W. This gives the OXO nearly double the power, which translates to a significantly higher top speed of 65km/h over the OX's 45km/h. In real world riding, the OXO consistently maxed out at 62-65km/h on flat roads, giving it a major advantage for thrill seekers who value raw speed. The torque and acceleration felt downright peppy, allowing the OXO to take off from 0-50km/h in just a few seconds. The OX requires nearly double the time to hit 50km/h, though its acceleration still feels respectable. Those wanting to feel the wind in their hair will prefer the OXO.

Range and Battery Life

Despite having a more power-hungry motor, the range is fairly similar between the two models due to the OXO's larger battery. On a single charge, I was able to ride the OXO just over 107km before it died, while the OX tapped out at 94km. For most commuters and casual riders, either model provides enough juice for days of normal use between charges. However, multi-day adventures or endurance riders may appreciate the OXO's extra 13km of range. Both take approximately 11-13 hours for a full recharge, with the OX gaining a small advantage by reaching 70% in 2 hours versus 3 hours on the OXO.

Ride Quality and Handling

Ride quality and handling are similar on both scooters, with the 10 inch tubeless tires and hydraulic disc brakes providing confident stability and control even at higher speeds. The wider handlebars on the OXO allow for easy steering and weight distribution. With its lighter weight, the OX initially seems more nimble and easy to maneuver. But at high speeds, the OXO's wider footprint and lower center of gravity make it feel planted and secure. I took both over varied terrain including hills, gravel trails and potholed asphalt, and the two Inokims handled everything superbly.

Construction and Durability

Inokim clearly constructed both the OX and OXO to last, with aircraft grade aluminum alloy frames and waterproofed components that can withstand the elements. The OXO gains an extra level of water protection with its IPX4 rating. At 26kg vs. 33.5kg, the lighter OX is easier to carry up stairs or lift onto public transportation where permitted. The wider body of the OXO, however, makes it feel a bit sturdier and less likely to topple over if bumped. Both models can support riders up to 120kg.

Features and Customization

Riders who love tinkering with settings will appreciate the ability on both models to adjust acceleration, braking intensity, kickstand position and other parameters through the dashboard control panel or Inokim's app. The vibrant LED headlight and brake lights offer great visibility at night. One perk of the OXO is its integrated triple clamp stem and enhanced display that provides more riding data like temperature, individual tire pressure and more.

Overall Verdict

For scooter geeks like myself, choosing between Inokim's stellar models ultimately comes down to priorities and budget. The OXO is the screamer machine, delivering amazing 65km/h top speeds for adrenaline junkies while still providing ample range. Trick riders will also love the OXO's customization and data-rich display. However, the OX keeps up surprisingly well for a few thousand dollars less, offering nearly as much range and great handling. New riders may also feel more comfortable learning on the OX. Personally, I lean toward the OXO for its high-speed chops, but commuters and casual riders can't go wrong with the classic OX either. Both Inokims are exceptional e-scooters worth getting excited about.
