Electric Scooters have taken over Dubai. I see someone cruising on an Escooter almost everywhere I go in the city. I’ve started seeing more and more lately due to the new influx of traffic in the city. Don’t believe me? Here are three testimonials from some of the electric scooter enthusiasts of Dubai!

Jacques is a French Expat living in Dubai, owner of a Ninebot G30P. He currently resides in the Marina. “Marina traffic is something I always thought was a part of living in Dubai. There was no way around it. I lived in JBR at the Address Beach Resort building. I dreaded going anywhere for the longest time because leaving and returning was horrible. Going anywhere in the Marina was too far of a walk, especially in the summer, and traffic was always horrible, especially now, so driving wasn’t an option. On a walk to Bluewaters Island one day, I saw tons of people riding past me on electric scooters, and I thought, ‘I need one of those!’. I started looking and landed on the Ninebot G30P, as I didn’t want anything too powerful, but I wanted something I could use for short basic travels. After getting the G30P, my life has changed! I can get anywhere in the Marina in under 10 minutes. Getting to the Marina Mall or the grocery store used to take me forever. Finding parking and waiting in traffic could take me 20-30 minutes for a single ride. I was considering moving out of the Marina or even back to France because of the gridlock in the city, but now I hardly drive. I work near the Marina, and my life is there, I only drive pretty much when I leave the Marina. I would recommend an escooter to anyone considering buying one, especially in Dubai, as more cars are on the road than ever.”

Shahd, from Lebanon, lives in the Business Bay area of Dubai. She owns a Mi scooter 4. “I wanted a way to do short trips from my apartment without my car. I hated the hassle of getting my car, driving, and finding parking. I wanted a basic cheap electric scooter, as I wouldn’t use it much, and still don’t use it very often, only for errands and occasionally when there’s heavy traffic driving to my destination. However, I save so much time now not getting my car to do errands. Getting anywhere in the city is also extremely easy when I use it. If I go somewhere during rush hour or the roads are generally busy, I take the metro, which is easy with a scooter. The mi scooter is foldable and light for its size. I have friends that live in Jumeria and on the Palm. Taking the metro and riding a scooter is faster than driving at these times. Almost all the metro stations I’ve been to have really easy bike access, so you can ride your scooter wherever you need to from the station. I have been considering upgrading my scooter, as I would like to use my scooter more, but the mi scooter has less range than other scooters like Alfa Romeo, Inokim and Ninebot scooters. Even the cheapest scooters can be of great use to anyone in Dubai.

Mike, from Canada, lives in the Jumeirah Islands neighborhood and has a Dualtron Storm electric scooter. “I love my Dualtron scooter! I am an absolute sucker for electric scooters with high performance. My Dualtron has a top speed of 90 km/h, a crazy max load of 150 kg, a 70% climbing grade, a 150 km range, and even turning signals! I love taking my scooter out into the desert and using it as an off-roader. The tires and suspension allow for offroad use, with a ride as smooth as can be. The scooter is so fast that I can even speed down the main roads next to my house. I understand my scooter isn’t necessarily for everyone, as the performance is high, and it can be overwhelming for some, but I enjoy it! I use my scooter as more of a fun activity rather than as something practical. I take it out into the desert lots and even take it on trips. I went to Oman a couple of months ago with my scooter and took it out on some mountain trails. I use it sometimes for practical things, like going places with traffic, however, not very often. An electric scooter isn’t just a practical commuter vehicle as many look at it, it can also be used as something for fun, or as a hobby.
